It was a short-lived season for an area sunflower maze.

The Sun Flower Maze at Country Junction in Bradford has closed for the season. The late-summer attraction announced earlier this week that the sunflowers have past their prime-prettiness. An announcement on Facebook reads: "We are sad to announce that the mazes are closed for the season. The weather this week has pushed the flowers past their prettiest and they are drooping now. We will have pumpkins and cornstalk out front for sale this weekend and there will be some cut sunflowers as well. Thank you to everyone that came out and enjoyed our farm. See you again next year."

The sunflower mazes opened for the season September 3.

Now that fall as arrived, spooky season is upon us. Fright at the Fort returns to Fort Knox this October after a two-year hiatus. Organizers of the five nights of fright are already hard at work bringing the creepy event back, bigger than ever before. A change this year will be online ticket sales only. Tickets went on-sale earlier this month via Eventbrite.

According to organizers, "Previous years have caused traffic jams for our neighbors, parking problems, rushed guest experience, staff exhaustion, and many other behind-the-scenes challenges. We are hoping to have a better experience for our guests with these crowd control measures."

Tickets will not be sold at Fort Knox, and guests will be turned away if tickets were not purchased in advance. Tickets will be sold for specific one-hour time slots for each night of Fright. Ticket sales close at 4:30 P.M. each night.

Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory will close for the season October 31.
