More than 270 businesses from across the Illawarra have registered with our free online Open for Business directory.

The directory was established during the initial impact of the coronavirus crisis as a way for local business to show customers they were still open for trading.

A range of business have registered and you can still add the details of your business to the directory free of charge.

"We will be looking to publish a second, updated version of the directory in our printed edition next week so I'd encourage any business to register," Illawarra Mercury editor Julian O'Brien said.

"We've had such a tremendous response to the directory and this is a great opportunity for business to speak directly to the people of the region."

In conjunction with Open for Business, the Mercury has run a Taking Care of Business campaign, featuring the stories of businesses innovating to continue to operate.
